Thursday, September 10 - One Can Makes a Difference
The week is the kickoff for the ONE CAN MAKES a DIFFERENCE campaign. Student Senate is challenging students, teachers, staff members, parents, and community members to buy a extra CAN each time they go to the grocery store for the campaign. These cans alre apart of the Wishes of Westwood celebration. The cans will go to the school's backpack program and the the Christian Assistance Bridge of Blythewood. Reuseable grocery bags will be available for your cans and drop-off bins will be placed in front of the school. Please stand with us and make a difference by donating ONE CAN at a time.
Friday, September 11 - After School Tutoring
After School Tutoring starts Tuesday, September 15th. Tutoring is offered Tuesday and Thursday for Math and Tuesday and Thursday for Science. All classes are in the Learning Commons (Media Center) from 4 - 5pm.
Monday, September 21 - Fall Production Focuses on the Underground Railroad
The Fine Arts Department is producing an original drama based on the experiences of the underground railroad. Written by the drama students, The Secret Room develops the stories of several incidents during this time period. The production for the public is Thursday, October 8th at 7:00pm. They are also offering an "On the Run Snack" that night at 5:30 for $7.00 which includes a ticket to the performance. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students, senior citizens and the military with proper ID.
Tuesday, September 22 - Food Fair & Aution
The Football Boosters Club is hosting a Benefit for Mark Mickens and his family on Saturday, October 24th at Doko Park in Blythewood. Local restauranteurs will offer food from 11 - 3 followed by an auction. One hundred percent of the monies raised will go to the Booster Club Fund to assist the family. In addition, they are asking for donations form individuals and businesses which could be donated.
Wednesday, September 30 - Yearbook Sale
Yearbooks are now on sale for $65.00. You can order them through Ms. Brebner in room 1002 in the media center or on-line at yearbooksforver.com.
Wednesday, September 30 - PSAT is scheduled for October 14
The PSAT is scheduled for October 14th from 9:45 - 12:45 for grades 9 - 11. Students need to sign up with guidance. It is free to all 10th graders.
Wednesday, September 30 - Code for Watching Westwood Sports' Broadcast for FREE!
Redhawktv is broadcasting several football games. As a member of Playon Sports, there is a charge unless you have an account. The school has paid for these accounts for Redhawk supporters. To setup your account, go to - NFHSnetwork.com/redeem? - then enter the CODE - GoRedhawks1516 and setup your account. This allows your to view Westwood events or any other high school in the country that is on the Playon Network. You can also view playoff games in all sports in SC.

From Athletic Director Jason Powell: Today at the 4A SC High School Leauge AD's meeting, Westwood was one of only 6 4A schools to receive the Award For Excellence in Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity in High School Athletics. This is a huge honor for all of our coaching staff and our school. A big thank you to all of our coaches who put forth the extra time and labor in developing our student-athletes here at Westwood. Seniors - it is time for your senior portrait and the opportunity for senior ads and baby pictures. See the attached flyer for all the details about your participation as a senior in the yearbook.
Saturday, October 10 - HOMECOMING 2015
Homecoming for the Redhawks is the week of October 12 - 16th. Plans are now underway through Student Senate. More information will follow. Westwood will play Ridge View on the evening of the 16th.
Saturday, October 10 - Spirit Week
Plans are now being developed for Westwood's annual Spirit Week Celebration. The week is October 19 - 21 and the game of the week is against Blythewood.
Tuesday, October 20 - Harvest Festival
Community members especially children are invited to the annual school's Harvest Festival on Sunday, October 25. The event sponsored by Student Government and a number of Westwood's clubs and organizations will have lots of great activities for children. Make your plans now.
Friday, October 30 - Senior Graduation Supplies
