Monday, August 15 - Chromebook Rollout
Chromebook Information: 10th-12th grade students can pick up Chromebooks outside the book room before school (8:00-8:30), during lunch, or after school (until 4:00) on Thursday and Friday, August 18 & 19. All 9th grade and remaining 10th-12th grade students who have their RUP on file and bring their cases on Tuesday, August 23 will be able to pick up their CBs outside the book room. Check the schedule for Last Name and Time.

Senior T-shirt Info - Order your senior t-shirt NOW. The cost for your t-shirt is $15.00. Pay in the fees office and bring your receipt to Mrs. Callahan in room 400 to order your size. Deadline to order is Friday, August 26th. Extras will not be ordered. Don’t miss out!
Wednesday, August 17 - Club Showcase
Club Showcase or Club Sign-up is August 30 and 31 and September 1 during lunch. This is a time for students to visit the displays and sign-up to join clubs for this year.
Thursday, August 18 - Rowdy & Ready Week
The Redhawks will celebrate Rowdy and Ready Week from August 22 - 26th. The overall theme is Back @ It Again. Monday's theme is Nerds, Tuesday is Beach; Wednesday is Sleep; Thursday is My bestie; and Friday is Spirit. There is a pep rally on Friday and then join us at the stadium at 7:30pm when we play Westside High School.
Thursday, August 18 - Parking @ Westwood High School
Want to park on campus? Parking passes will be distributed before school and during lunch. Please read the following guidelines: Students are only to park in the student lot (near the stadium) and never in the spaces in the front of the school, around the school or in the visitor spaces. PARKING INFORMATION - ALL CARS MUST HAVE A PARKING PASS BY SEPTEMBER 6 in order to park at Westwood High School. Through the month of September, there are 3 types of parking passes:
REGULAR PARKING PASS - You must have completed Alive @ 25, paid all school fees, and paid your $25 parking fee & returned the yellow parking application.
TEMPORARY PARKING TAG (good for Sept. only). You must have - paid all school fees, paid your $25 parking fee & returned the yellow parking application. You also must have registered for Alive @ 25 course offered in SEPTEMBER. Must bring proof that you have registered for a September course.
ONE DAY PARKING PASS - Cost is $5 per day and available each morning in student activities.
Cars will be booted for not having a parking pass beginning September 6.

SENIOR PICTURES - Still need to take your senior picture? Contact: Lifetouch at the Prestige Portrait Studio 10812 Two Notch Rd / Elgin, SC 29045 / (803) 788-1605. After August 22 to set up an in-studio appointment. Appointment cut-off day is November 4. Thursday, November 17, we will have a senior picture make-up day at WHS. This will be for formal pictures only & does include a sitting fee (usually $20 and you get proofs back). We will send out more info soon. Senior pictures are for anyone graduating in 2017. Sports Physicals for 2016-2017 Do you want to play a sport at Westwood? If so, you must submit the entire Richland Two Athletic Packet.Your doctor’s office forms are NOT acceptable...you MUST take OUR forms to your appointment. All paperwork must be complete before you participate in any conditioning, weightlifting, tryouts, practices, etc. Forms from last school year are EXPIRED.

School photos for Underclassmen are September 2nd. These are the photos that will be used in the yearbook. You do not have to purchase the photos to be included in the yearbook.

The dates for Alive @ 25 at Westwood High School are: Sept 8, Sept 20, Oct 20, and Nov 10. The classes are held in Room 101 and begin promptly at 4pm.

Sunday, August 21 - Westwood Students Are Stepping Up to Make a Difference
This summer has been very difficult for local food pantries in the Midlands. Student Senate has brought back "The One Can Can Make a Difference" Campaign to challenge the Westwood students, faculty, and staff to bring in 1 can each or a total of 1,400 cans for this cause. The campaign takes place this week - August 22 - 26th for Rowdy & Ready Week. Be a part of this effort and help the local food pantries make a difference.
Sunday, August 21 - Football Team Wins their First Regular Season Game under New Leadership
It was not easy - first there were the Friday night weather delays and star player Rudy Mitchell's injury followed by a slow start on Saturday morning, but in the end the Redhawks put together a 23 - 20 win over Chester. The Redhawks came alive in the third quarter scoring 14 points and followed up with 9 points in the fourth. The Redhawks will be home again next Friday night.

This year Xavier Vereen is serving as Student Body President with Hailey Zalewa as Vice President. They were elected in the spring as a team and have been working during the summer to plan activities for the Redhawks. Attached is more information.
Tuesday, August 23 - Girls Basketball Infomation
All Girls interested in playing Basketball, there will be an Interest Meeting on Monday, August 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. Parents are encouraged to attend. Pre-season Conditioning and Work-outs will begin on Tuesday, September 6. All girls participating must have a WHS School Physical dated on or after April 1, 2016. Wednesday, August 24 - Attendance Policy
Just a reminder that a student can only be absent from a 1st semester class 5 times or less and 10 times or less for a year long class if they want to receive credit for a class. This includes medical absences, verified absences, and unverified absences. Please see Mrs. Thurman in the attendance office or Mr. Young in 312 if you have any other questions.

Richland School District 2 will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 5th.
Monday, September 05 - Westwood Open House
Westwood's Open House is Monday, September 12th from 5 - 7pm. Please plan to attend and meet our son or daughter's teachers.
Saturday, October 01 - Student Council District Rally
Westwood High School is the site for this fall's District Rally on October 14th. Diamond Del La Rosa is the Westwood Senator in charge of the program which brings schools to Westwood for an all-day conference.
Monday, May 01 - Graduation
Westwood High School Seniors will graduate on Friday, June 2nd at 12:00.
