Monday, May 01 - State Testing

Important for Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Sandlapper Parents!
State Testing time is approaching!  All of the state tests will be completed on the Chromebooks and they are NOT timed.   Different schools across the state will be testing on different dates.  Please note our Sandlapper testing dates below:
      Tuesday, May 9 – SCReady  ELA Session 1 – includes Writing  (Grades 3 – 5)
      Wednesday, May 10  – SCReady ELA- Session 2  (Grades 3 – 5)
      Thursday, May 11 – SCReady Math  (Grades 3 – 5)
The later Science and Social Studies PASS testing is for Grades 4 & 5 only:
Tuesday, May 16 – Social Studies PASS   (Grades 4 & 5)
 Wednesday, May 17 -  Science PASS (Grades 4 & 5 only)
We do not expect to have the results for this testing until next school year.
Naturally, we want our students to perform their very best on any standardized test because it is a “snapshot” of their achievement and performance.  It is important to maintain a healthy balance between effort and anxiety.   What you do at home can be very helpful.  We need your help with the following:
·         Arrive at school on time.   The tardy bell is at 8:10 and we strive to begin the testing at 8:30.  Students who come after testing has begun in the classroom may have to participate in makeup testing (which will likely be with a certified teacher other than their own classroom teacher.)
*     If your child wears eyeglasses, particularly for close and computer work, make sure s/he has them for testing days.
·         Makeup testing is provided on other days for those who were sick.  However, it is very helpful to schedule doctor’s appointments and other out-of-school functions on other days.
·         As practiced everyday, students should not bring any toys or electronic devices for communicating, timing, imaging (including cell phones, smart watches, calculators, etc.)
·         Students will work hard throughout the testing period.  Please assist us by making sure your child gets plenty of sleep and a healthy breakfast.
·         Try to provide an unrushed, calm morning, entering the school with an “I Can Do It!” attitude.
