Fall Board Updates

A Strategic Focus for Governance and Growth

In the summer of 2025, the Richland Two School Board began work to develop a strategic focus framework to guide its efforts in governance, policy, and oversight of the superintendent. This framework supports the district’s ongoing commitment to excellence, equity, and effective leadership.

Through this work, the board analyzed the district’s current strategic plan, refined its communication processes, and began developing a data dashboard to enhance transparency and progress monitoring. To strengthen collaboration and accountability, the board also established new committees aligned to key areas of focus:

  • Strategic Plan & Policy Committee – Charged with monitoring the superintendent’s work on the district vision through a revised strategic plan, maintaining an updated policy timeline, and overseeing the review and revision of at least 50% of board policies. This includes the adoption of a new AI Acceptable Use Policy to ensure responsible and innovative technology use.
  • Safety & Security Committee – Focused on maintaining streamlined communication, reviewing related policies, and ensuring the district safety plan remains up-to-date and effective.
  • Operations & Finance Committee – Responsible for reviewing financial operations, updating contract policies, and monitoring fiscal accountability and transparency.
  • Support Services Committee – Concentrated on evaluating and enhancing district alternative programs and services that meet diverse student needs.
  • Academics Committee- Focused on reviewing district data, monitoring implementation of curriculum needs consistently across the district, as well as, ensuring our guidance department has structures and systems in place to support our middle school students as they transition to high school and our high school students to ensure every student has a plan after graduation.

Engaging Our Community

The board recognizes that strong governance depends on strong community connections. Beginning in Spring 2026, the board will expand opportunities for stakeholder engagement through community listening sessions, advisory group partnerships, and district-wide communication efforts.

The administration will also provide ongoing reports on student academic outcomes, equipping the board with quality data to make informed decisions for the success of all students. Additionally, the Board along with the Superintident and District Administration are going to embark on a strategic plan journey to align the vision of our community with the board priorities to ensure every students has a successful experience in Richland 2.
