Richland School District Two Board Candidate Forum
Election Day is November 5, 2024. Richland School District Two will have three seats available on the school board. There are ten candidates running to fill those seats. Who will be selected to help govern our district? That is your decision. Here is an opportunity for you to gain information about the candidates before you vote. Tune in October 1, 2024 for this livestream event to learn first-hand the the vision of those looking to govern our district. Then please go out and vote!
The Board assumes the leadership role in maintaining a system of public education for all students residing in the school district. The Board and each of its members will look to the future to provide the best programs and procedures to address the educational needs of the students in the district and will be charged with accomplishing this task while also being responsible for wise management of district resources. The Board is dedicated to the continued improvement of the district’s schools for the benefit of its students and their academic achievement.
The Board must fulfill these responsibilities by functioning primarily as a legislative body to formulate and adopt policy while employing a superintendent under whose leadership the school personnel will carry out the policies of the board. Providing quality education involves the cooperation of the board, administration, staff, students, parents/legal guardians, and community. With input from these stakeholders regarding the quality and performance of the school system, the district will establish a culture of competence, collaboration, and trust.
Meetings and Materials
The Richland Two School Board typically meets twice monthly on the second and fourth Tuesdays in the boardroom at the R2i2 Conference Center located at 763 Fashion Drive, Columbia, 29229. The Board meets only once in July, November and December. The Board may schedule special sessions as needed throughout the year.
Agendas and minutes for meetings are maintained online by BoardDocs. Agendas are posted to BoardDocs no later than 24 hours prior to each meeting.
All Board meetings are open to the public. To provide members of the public the ability to watch the meeting from the safety of their home, meetings are also streamed live.
