Bengal Biodiesel Summer Internship Celebrates Another Successful Cohort

Blythewood High School recently celebrated the accomplishments of students who participated in the Third Annual Bengal Biodiesel Summer Internship, recognizing a group of Richland School District Two juniors, seniors, and recent graduates for their dedication, hard work, and career-focused learning.

Over the course of six weeks, these students traded part of their summer vacation for more than 170 hours of immersive, hands-on experience in an industrial production facility. As participants in the Bengal Biodiesel program, they were responsible for operating, managing, and analyzing the Bengal Biodiesel Production Process, gaining valuable real-world experience while developing technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

In addition to their hands-on training, students earned two highly respected industry credentials: a LEAN White Belt Certification and an OSHA 10 Certification, further preparing them for future educational and career opportunities.

The Bengal Biodiesel Summer Internship provides students with an authentic work-based learning experience that bridges classroom instruction with industry expectations. Through collaboration, innovation, and professional skill development, participants leave the program with a deeper understanding of manufacturing processes, workplace safety, continuous improvement principles, and the value of teamwork.

The Third Annual Bengal Biodiesel Summer Internship Celebration recognized the students' outstanding achievements and celebrated the impact of a program that continues to prepare Richland Two students for success in college, careers, and beyond.
