Adaptive Toy Workshop Opens Doors for All Learners

The Student Innovation Center at R2i2, in partnership with the Assistive Technology Program at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, hosted an Adaptive Toy Workshop that truly transformed learning—one customized toy at a time! Led by R2i2 instructor Nicolas Jones, students, staff, and community partners worked together to redesign and adapt toys so that ALL learners could engage, explore, and enjoy meaningful play experiences.

By modifying buttons, controls, and interactive features, the workshop made it possible for children with diverse physical and learning needs to participate fully and joyfully.

In Richland Two, we believe every child deserves the chance to explore, imagine, and thrive—and this workshop was a powerful reminder of what happens when innovation, compassion, and community come together.
