Meet our K, 2nd, and 4th Grade Assistant Principal

Carrie Murray

Carrie Murray proudly serves as one of the Assistant Principals at Killian Elementary.  Mrs. Murray is the Assistant Principal that works mostly with our kindergarten, second and fourth grade students, teachers and parents.  Mrs. Murray loves being a STEAM Leading Lion.  Mrs. Murray believes that all children can succeed every single day.  Mrs. Murray is thrilled to be working in a partnership with the Killian teachers, parents, and community to make sure that everyone that comes through the Killian doors has a positive experience.

Her career as an educator began in Virginia. She completed her teaching internship in Roanoke, Virginia. After graduating from Virginia Tech, she taught second grade in Virginia Beach. Then, she married her best friend and became an Army wife.  For twenty years, Mrs. Murray moved around the world.  She lived in Georgia, New York, Virginia, Kansas and even Germany.  While moving around the world, Mrs. Murray got to teach pre-school, first, second and third grade.  She got to be an instructional assistant for a little boy who had autism.  She got to substitute a lot and she even got to teach seventh grade English!

Mrs. Murray earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Virginia Tech in 1992.  She earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from The American College of Education in 2013.

Mrs. Murray has been married for twenty-one years and has a daughter and a son.  Her children are both in high school, so she is a busy mom too. Her favorite things to do are run with her husband, hang out with her kids and read on her porch.
