Students of active duty military personnel living on Fort Jackson are eligible for Richland School District Two’s free 4K Child Development program. Students qualify for this program based on developmental readiness, free or reduced price meal status, and other risk factors. For more information on the Child Development program, click here. Please note, transportation to and from the base is not provided.

Kindergarten - 5th grade students of active duty military personnel residing on Fort Jackson are not zoned to one specific school in Richland School District Two. Parents are able to select one of the schools listed below:

Kindergarten - 5th grade students of active duty military personnel residing on Fort Jackson also have the option of attending DoDEA schools located on Fort Jackson.  Contact the Fort Jackson School Liaison or the DoDEA schools for more information if you wish to attend the DoDEA school.

1. 6th - 8th grade students of active duty military personnel residing on Fort Jackson are zoned to attend Dent Middle School: 2721 Decker Blvd, Columbia, SC 29223, 803-699-2750, Ext. 72010.
2. 6th grade students of active duty military personnel residing on Fort Jackson also have the option of attending DoDEA schools located on Fort Jackson.  Contact the Fort Jackson School Liaison or the DoDEA schools for more information if you wish to attend the DoDEA school.

1. 9th - 12th grade students of active duty military personnel residing on Fort Jackson are zoned to attend Richland Northeast High School: 7500 Brookfield Rd, Columbia, SC 29223, 803-699-2800, Ext. 79827
2. Fort Jackson does not have a school that serves students in grades 7th - 12th.

** Important Details**

• In addition to the documents needed to register in Richland School District Two, you will need to provide your Common Access Card (CAC) to verify your active duty status.
• Transportation to and from the post is not provided for elementary students (K-5). 
• Transportation is provided  to and from the post for Dent Middle and Richland Northeast High.
• Once your student is enrolled at one of the above schools, the initial school becomes your student’s home school. You will not be able to move them to another school in the district unless you apply and get selected to attend another school through the Richland School District Two Choice process www.richland2.org/choice. 
• You may remove your student from a Richland Two school to a school on Fort Jackson at any time.
• Special needs programs are housed at various schools throughout the district. Placement at a Richland School District Two school may be impacted by a child’s IEP. If your child has an IEP, contact Mrs. Katinia Davis, Chief Special Education Officer at kdavis@richland2.org or 803.738.3241.
