Conducting Research in Richland Two
Richland School District Two encourages research to improve professional practice or to contribute to the body of research in the field of education. Educators currently employed by Richland School District Two may gather and analyze data at any time for the improvement of their own professional practice and if the collection of such data would be part of ordinary instructional procedures for their own students. Any research that goes beyond individual use that is exclusively for improvement of professional practice requires district approval by the district’s research committee before any research activity begins.
IMPORTANT
For the 2025-2026 school year, Richland School District Two will approve a very limited number of research requests due to our focus on the Academic Recovery Plan. Studies that are approved, which will be limited, may only use data that is readily available, publicly accessible or data that the researcher can collect and analyze themselves (surveys, etc). Schools are under no obligation to participate as their primary focus is on the academic recovery of students.
If you are not approved due to the volume of research requests, you will be placed on a “wait list” and your research may be considered at a later date in the school year.
All research requests must be submitted in accordance with the guidelines below. Requests will be reviewed within 4-6 weeks after receipt. Research requests will not be reviewed during the last month of school, as we are focused on state testing.
Richland Two Research Committee Members cannot be a part of your dissertation committees.
General Proposal Criteria
Richland Two will not distribute flyers recruiting research subjects. If you have a flyer to distribute, contact Carmen Rhone, Public Relations Coordinator at crhone@richland2.org to submit a flyer for your organization. Please inquire about the disclaimer needed for submission.
