Monday, April 21 - Stock Market Team
We had 17 4th and 5th grade students
participate the year. They were broken into 5 teams. The teams were given
$100,000 of hypothetical money to invest in any publicly traded company or
mutual fund on the three U.S. stock exchanges over a ten week period. Our
top team of Kellie Goodwin, Nathan Graham, and Sladen Zecevich invested wisely
and finished in 10th place out of 117 elementary grade level teams. The
stock market in general was relatively flat for these ten weeks, but they were
able to increase the value of their portfolio by $2,377.
by the 5th grade hallway to see a summary of our results and what the students learned.
These lessons apply to us adults also as we save for college expenses and
retirement. Each team has a display that they helped create that
summarizes their results and lists all of their successful and unsuccessful
investments. Congratulations to all
of our Stock Market Team!

Ten of our BCE Caribbean Cats performed in the

our school. This was a great day!
