Core Values

What the Words Mean

Respect - being regarded with honor or esteem

It is also the willingness to show consideration or appreciation.  Baseball player Jackie Robinson said, "I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me...All I ask is that you respect me as a human being."

Responsibility - doing the right thing

Taking responsibility for what you do is not always easy but it is the right thing to do.  Jim Rohn is quoted as saying - "You must take personal responsibility.  You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself.  That is something you have charge of."

Honesty - telling the truth - taking responsibility for your actions - being honest in what you say and do.

Taking the hard road and being honest with yourself and those around you does make a difference. Mark Twain once said, “When in doubt tell the truth.”

Integrity - doing the right thing when no one is looking.

Someone once said – What is left when honor is lost? Not much – so you must be a person with strong personal integrity. That makes you honest, reliable and trustworthy. If you have those values – you are happy, feel good about yourself and have no guilty feelings. If you are not, you have a bad reputation, get into trouble and feel guilty. So – remember to always act with the highest integrity and the rewards will come your way.

Community - belonging to a group.

The word community comes from the Old French and Latin laguages and is a broad term for fellowship or organized society. Community involves learning to live in terms of an interconnected "we" more than an isolated "I.” At Richland Northeast, community means the Cavalier Family. It is doing those small acts of kindness for someone else that makes RNE and our larger community around us a better place to live.
