Welcome from Dr. Suber to Our Military Families

Dear Military Families:

Richland Northeast High School shares a special connection with our nation’s largest military training facility. Fort Jackson is located less than four miles from our campus, just a short 10-minute drive. The value of being close in proximity makes it convenient to form strong relationships with U.S. Army officials that benefit military families, our school and community.

We are proud to say that the boot prints of Fort Jackson Brigadier General Milford Beagle Jr. can be seen all across the campus along side mine, our administrators, teachers and staff. General Beagle is making a significant impact on the entire student population but particularly with the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC). He has celebrated with cadets and offered remarks for NJROTC Pass-in-Review graduation ceremony. Additionally, the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club (SAMC) supported our annual winter holiday celebration by donating and counting canned goods.

We are overjoyed by the relationships and partnerships that have been established with Fort Jackson and wholeheartedly welcome you and your children to our school. Richland Northeast currently has numerous military connected families who have chosen to make this their high school.

Recognizing that military families have a different experience than other families, Richland Northeast and the district are striving to provide the resources needed for success. Just recently, Richland Two announced the hiring of its first Military Community Liaison, Kelsie Carter, who will assist families with their transition and adaptation to the culture of their new environment. Carter works in the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Inclusion and can be reached at 803-691-4867 or kecarter@richland2.org

Fort Jackson’s School Liaison Officer is Fred C. Henley. He can answer additional questions specific to military families. Please send your email to fred.c.henley.naf@mail.mil or call 803.751.6150.

Additionally, there is a Military Family Support page on the Richland Two website that provides information on enrollment, Magnet programs, school choice and more. https://www.richland2.org/Departments/Enrollment-Registration/Military-Family-Support

Richland Northeast offers four magnet programs: Convergence Media, Horizon, International Baccalaureate Programme (IB Diploma Programme, IB Middle Years Programme, IB Career-Related Programme), and the Palmetto Center for the Arts. You can learn more about them on this website and the district’s website.
