Polo Road Elementary is a school committed to excellence.  We endeavor to immerse our students in innovative, engaging, and intellectually challenging learning experiences.  Likewise, our teachers and staff participate in ongoing professional learning experiences to remain abreast of current education research and best practices, equipping us to meet the needs of our diverse student population.  Our past and present successes are a direct result of the participation and involvement of our students, parents, school personnel and community members.  The Polo Road community continues to demonstrate our school motto:  Learning Today to Change Tomorrow.

What time does school begin?

Instruction begins at 8:00am for all students in grades K-5.


At what time is my child considered tardy?

The tardy bell rings at 8:10am each morning.


At what time will my child be dismissed?

Students are dismissed beginning at 2:50pm each day.


What are the school's normal office hours?

Someone is available to assist you via telephone or in person between the hours of 7:30am and 4:00pm. .


What is the school's mascot and the school's colors?

The school mascot is the Explorer and the official school colors are Navy, Carolina Blue, and White.


Do students at Polo Road Elementary wear uniforms?

Yes.  Polo Road is a uniform school.  The school opened during the 2006-2007 school year and it has been a uniform school since it opened.  More information regarding the Explorer Dress Code is listed below:

  • Bottoms:  navy or khaki (pants, shorts, skirts, jumpers, dresses, or skorts)
  • Tops: solid navy, white, light blue, hunter green, or burgundy (shirts, blouses, turtlenecks)
  • Black or brown belt
  • Shoes should be worn with safety in mind.  Flip-flops, platform shoes, or shoes with cleats or rollers should not be worn.
