10/23/2019
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Two more Richland School District Two high schools have a received a grant designed to increase the number of students successfully completing Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Spring Valley and Westwood high school are the newest district participants in the 2019 National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI), in partnership with the Department of Defense.
Richland Two has a long-standing goal of increasing access to Advanced Placement opportunities for all students. This grant sponsored by the Department of Defense, offers training to teachers, as well as incentives to students and teachers for successful completion of AP coursework. The NMSI program, in partnership with DoD STEM, is designed to increase student access and achievement in rigorous math, science and English courses with the goal of success in AP math, science and English courses.
Richland Two is proud to have four of its five high schools receive this grant; Blythewood and Ridge View received the grant during the 2017-2018 school year.
