Three Richland Two students will represent the Richland School District Two in the South Carolina State GeoBee on March 29. They are: sixth grader, Zahi Siddique (Dent Middle School); seventh grader, Aditya Chennnamraju (E L Wright Middle School); and eighth grader, Tarun Ramkumar (Kelly Mill Middle School.)

State champions will receive a medal, $1,000 in cash and other prizes, as well as a trip to Washington, D.C., to represent their state in the National Championship on May 19-22, 2019. Students that come in second and third place will receive cash awards of $300 and $100, respectively.

The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world, and increase public awareness about geography. Students in grades four through eight compete for a chance to win college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic GeoBee Champion.
