Students Win National Poetry and Art Awards


COLUMBIA, S.C. – Three Richland Two students who won at the state-level in the National Career Development Association’s (NCDA) 55th Annual Poetry and Art Contest have now won national awards. The contest theme was: "My Future Career: Imagine the Possibilities."
Summit Parkway Middle School 7th grader Maricella Gonzalez won 1st place in the Art 1, grades 6-8 category. Blythewood High School senior Cora Weems won top honors in in Poetry, grades 9-12 category. 
Bridge Creek Elementary School kindergartener Kennedy Cooper won a 2nd place in the Art 2, grades K-2 category. Gonzalez also received 2nd place in grades 6-8 Poetry category. 
The students will be celebrated at the virtual NCDA Annual Global Conference June 30 - July 1, 2021.
