Sparkleberry County Fair donated $23,000 for teacher grants
Thirty-five Richland Two teachers will be able to implement projects on their wish list, thanks to the Sparkleberry Country Fair. Fair chairman John Monroe presented a $23,000 check to Richland Two Superintendent Dr. Debbie Hamm to pay for the projects. The money comes from proceeds from the 2016 Sparkleberry Country Fair.
The teacher grants will fund a wide range of projects including the building of robots at Blythewood Academy, new books for several school libraries, canning equipment for culinary students at Spring Valley High School, an outdoor classroom for Lake Carolina Elementary Lower and mobile solar chargers for the new Richland Two Institute of Innovation.
All proceeds from the Sparkleberry Country Fair benefit Richland Two students and teachers. In the spring of 2017, twenty-five Richland Two graduating high school students will be awarded $1,000 college scholarships from money also raised from the 2016 fair. The Sparkleberry Country Fair is held annually the last Saturday in April. The 2017 fair, which will celebrate its 22nd year, is scheduled for April 29, 2017.
