Sixth- and ninth-graders start school early with annual events
Sixth- and ninth-graders start school early with annual events
8/14/2018
Sixth- and ninth-graders in Richland Two will get a head start on the new school year by participating in either “Step-Up to Sixth” or “Fresh Start” on August 21. All district middle schools will host Step-Up to Sixth and high schools will host Fresh Start to help ease the transition from elementary to middle school or middle to high school.
Superintendent Dr. Baron Davis said, “Transitioning to a new school can be a bit overwhelming for students. To help our sixth-graders confidently step-up to middle school and our ninth-graders to positively start high school we want to give them an opportunity to become familiar with their new school before other students return.”
Step-Up to Sixth and Fresh Start are part of Richland Two's commitment to providing supportive learning environments for student success. “These opportunities are designed to provide resources so that students enter these transitional years feeling prepared and supported,” said Nancy Gregory, Chief Instructional Officer.
Students who ride the school bus will also have the opportunity to ride their new middle school or high school bus on August 21. Our Transportation Department will use the information families provide, through the online registration process, to update bus routes for the 2018-2019 school year, which will be posted online later this summer. Families that have not already completed the online registration process are encouraged to do so now. Parents should contact their child’s school with questions about the online registration process.
