Schools closed through April 30
Schools closed through April 30
3/24/2020
Today, March 24, 2020, the Governor announced that schools will be closed through April 30, 2020. District officials and school leaders have been preparing for this possibility and are reaching out to you to share the updates below. Remember that the homepage of our website, www.richland2.org, provides quick access to information we have released since the closure started.
Thank you for your continued flexibility, support and patience during the school closure. Most of all, thank you for supporting student learning while juggling all the other changes caused by this global health emergency. Together we will continue to prepare our students to lead and excel in their chosen pathways.
Elementary Students E-learning/remote learning updates
The remote learning packets distributed last week contain enough work for students to last through April 9.
The district is preparing to transition students in Grades 2-5 to e-learning beginning April 20. If your child will need a district-issued Chromebook to complete e-learning assignments, we will be distributing Chromebooks April 1-3. Look for information to come before April 1 from your child’s school regarding the process for distribution.
By April 9, students in grades Pre-K through 1st grades will receive new learning packets. Students will begin working on the new packet April 20. Again, more information is to come about this.
Middle & High School E-Learning
Middle and high school students will continue with e-learning.
All Students
We are awaiting guidance from the S.C. Department of Education regarding introducing new content via e-learning and grades.
Spring Break
Students and employees will observe Spring Break as previously planned. Students will observe Spring Break from April 10-17, 2020, and employees from April 13-17.
Meals
We will continue to provide free bag breakfasts and lunches to children 18 and under Monday through Friday.
