Submit Your Future Chefs Recipe Today To The Future Chefs Culinary Competition
1/30/2020
Future Chefs is sponsored by Sodexo, Richland Two’s food service partner. Students will be paired with a Sodexo cafe staff member who will provide support as they prepare their dishes.
Students can submit their recipes now through January 31 on the theme of Reimagining Your Favorite School Lunch Meal. Students should return recipe cards to their teachers. Entry forms can also be picked up from the cafeteria and the main office.
According to data from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, nearly 18 percent (17.9 percent) of youth ages 10 to 17 have obesity, giving South Carolina a ranking of seven out of 51 for this age group among all states and the District of Columbia. The main risk factors for obesity and other chronic conditions are poor nutrition and lack of physical activity. Teaching healthy eating habits in childhood is key to reducing childhood obesity.
Ten students will be selected as finalists and will compete in the Future Chefs Culinary Competition at 4 p.m. on March 11 at R2I2, located in the Village at Sandhill.
The winning recipe from the competition will go on to compete in the national competition in April.
Future Chefs urges all students to be original, be creative and make it your own! Click here to see photos from last year’s competition.
