SCPASS, ACT Aspire and ACT results

On Oct. 23, 2015, the S.C. State Department of Education released results for SCPASS, ACT Aspire and ACT tests. Richland Two scores are comparable with state averages on the new standardized tests that were administered for the first time in the spring of 2015.

These results provide new ways to measure student achievement and cannot be compared to previous assessments. They do, however, support efforts to adopt rigorous standards, raise expectations for achievement, and provide students with the resources they need to meet the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. The Richland Two Board of Trustees endorsed the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate and the district’s Teaching and Learning Department incorporated the profile in the Richland Two Learning Framework.

“The Profile of a South Carolina Graduate, coupled with this new data, will strengthen our efforts to tailor the education of our students to meet the changing needs of the 21st century workforce,” said Superintendent Debbie Hamm. “In Richland Two we also emphasize our Four Squares — Learning, Character, Community and Joy — when guiding students as they develop essential life and career skills.”

The ACT College Readiness Benchmarks are the minimum ACT college readiness assessment scores required for students to have a high probability of success in credit-bearing college courses—English Composition, social sciences courses, College Algebra or Biology. In addition to the benchmarks for the ACT, there are corresponding benchmarks for ACT Aspire to gauge student progress in becoming ready for college.
