Richland Two hosts Girls and Pearls Conference

11/11/2016

Just imagine more than 500 girls wearing pearls while chatting about life’s experiences. These young ladies aren’t debutantes and won’t be “coming out.” They are guests of Richland Two’s first annual Girls and Pearls conference, a new mentoring initiative. The girls will learn how much they matter and connect with mentors who can help provide guidance in their lives.

The Girls and Pearls conference is Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m. at the Richland Two Institute of Innovation (R2i2), located at 763 Fashion Drive in the Village at Sandhill. WACH FOX Anchor Janet Parker will speak at the event and share her "Pearls of Wisdom" during a table talk activity.

Richland Two Lead School Counselor Dr. O’Tasha Morgan says this event will focus on females ages 10 to 18 in grades 5 through 12.

“It will be an empowering event for our girls that will demonstrate our love and support of them to achieve great things,” said Morgan. “It is our goal to have 100 or more women attend to show our girls that we support them and embrace their successful future.”

Women from various employment sectors of the community from city manager, judges, and principals, to church, business and law enforcement leaders have been invited to participate.

Last year, the district focused on males with a Bowties and Brunch event.
