COLUMBIA, S.C.
– Ridge View High School basketball star Gregory “G.G.” Jackson has another accolade to add to a long list of recognitions. In its 37th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade recently announced Jackson is the 2021-22 Gatorade South Carolina Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Jackson is the first Gatorade South Carolina Boys Basketball Player of the Year to be chosen from Ridge View.

The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court, distinguishes Jackson as South Carolina’s best high school boys’ basketball player. He’s now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award.

Jackson has maintained a “B” average in the classroom. Earlier this month, he led the Blazers to the Class 5A state championship. He is also the Class 5A Player of the Year. Jackson has volunteered locally on behalf of multiple community service initiatives through his church. He also has donated his time as a member of Ridge View’s SMOOTH Movement, a program in which male students seek to provide a positive image and stress the importance of community service for Ridge View’s younger male students.
