5/31/2022

Richland School District Two recently announced Jazmyn Medlin is the 2022 Learning Support Services Staff Person of the Year and Elisabeth Walter is the 2022 Nurse of the Year.

Jazmyn Medlin, Learning Support Services Staff Person of the Year
Medlin is a School Counselor at Joseph Keels Elementary School. “This is a humbling experience, and words cannot describe how much I appreciate being recognized for my hard work and dedication. My students are why I try to be my best every day because I believe they will excel if I do so,” said Medlin.

According to Keels Elementary School Principal Alvera Butler, Medlin works tirelessly to identify challenges and develop conditions that support accomplishing goals for students. “Medlin commutes to Richland Two from Orangeburg every day. She comes on time, wearing a smile and has a positive attitude. She cares about the whole child and goes out of her way to ensure families get the support they need,” said Butler.

Elisabeth Walter, Nurse of the Year
Walter is the School Nurse at Spring Valley High School. She is being credited with revitalizing the Health Room and bringing a better standard of care. Spring Valley Assistant Principal Dr. Paul Dobyns wrote in his nomination of Walter, “She makes sure our practices fall in line with state and district guidelines. She makes the best judgment calls for students and her clinical skills are top level.”

“I am honored to be a part of an amazing team of nurses as we work together to promote student and employee health in the school setting. The support I've received from administrators, faculty, and the LSS teams has been phenomenal in helping provide the best opportunities for our students to find success,” Walter said.
