RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY HELD FOR NEW FOOTBALL STADIUM AT RIDGE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL

8/20/2021

Richland School District Two officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at the new football stadium at Ridge View High School, located at 4801 Hard Scrabble Road, Columbia, SC.  The new stadium was made possible by the passage of the $468 million Pathways to Premier Facilities bond referendum that voters passed in November 2018.

Superintendent Dr. Baron R. Davis said, “We are building more equitable learning spaces and athletic facilities in Richland Two. We want every student in the district to be proud of their school facilities and we want our facilities to be the best representation of Richland Two as possible.”

Dr. Davis and Ridge View principal Dr. Brenda Mack-Foxworth thanked the Richland Two Board of Trustees, elected county and state officials, community members and everyone who voted for and have worked diligently to make the stadium a reality. The new facilities include a carpeted and air conditioned press box, weight room and athletic field house.

The Ridge View Blazers will play their first home game in their new stadium tonight at 7:30 p.m. against Westwood High School. During half-time school leaders will hold another ceremony that will include alumni. The game will be televised on WACH-FOX 57 as their Sonic Friday Night Rivals Game of the Week.

Next week, Richland Two will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new stadium at Richland Northeast High School at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2021. The Cavaliers will take on Lakewood High School later that day at 7:30 p.m. in their new stadium located at 7500 Brookfield Road, Columbia SC 29223.
