Nothing But Net

9/5/2017

The Nothing but Net charity basketball game between Richland One and Richland Two employees will take place on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. at Keenan High School, 361 Pisgah Church Road, Columbia 29203. Nothing but Net will feature a breast cancer survivor celebration and recognition presentation, student dunk contest and more.

“I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy an evening of friendly competition as Richland One and Richland Two join forces to fight breast cancer. Regardless of the final score at the buzzer, we will all be winners when we combine our hearts, energy and resources to make a difference in our community,” said Richland One Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon.

Each district has tasted victory once. Last year’s event was cancelled due to school closings caused by Hurricane Matthew. While it is a serious competition for the trophy and a year of bragging rights, the real goal is to raise money for breast cancer. “Team Richland” is a joint effort of the districts and combines the proceeds from the game to benefit the Palmetto Health Breast Center through Walk for Life/Race for Life.

“I am looking forward to this match-up. My competitive enthusiasm to win in this battle against breast cancer has me praying that something as simple as a basketball game will in some small way increase awareness and the survival rates of those fighting this deadly disease,” said Dr. Baron Davis, Richland Two Superintendent.

Admission is $5 for everyone age 6 and up. Tickets are available at the Richland One (1616 Richland Street) and Richland Two (763 Fashion Drive) district offices, in schools and will be sold at the door.
