MRMS teacher named December Rookie Teacher of the Block
MRMS teacher named December Rookie Teacher of the Block
1/14/2019
Richland School District Two would like to congratulate Muller Road Middle School’s Emily McElveen, the December Rookie Teacher of the Block. The award is sponsored by H&R Block, a dedicated partner of the district.
In his nomination of Ms. McElveen, Muller Road Principal Sean Bishton writes about the physical education teacher’s ability to connect with and motivate students.
“She sets an example for the students and holds them accountable. Ms. McElveen models the positive character traits she expects for her students in and out of the classroom. Students want to do well because they know she is expecting them to, and they do not want to let her down.”
The December award was given in January due to winter break.
RTOTB winners receive a plaque to hang outside their door, a Kindle Fire for their personal use and a unique trophy designed by the 3D Printing class at the Richland Two Institute of Innovation (R2i2). Ms. McElveen is the third teacher to be recognized through the initiative. Past winners are Brett Frye (Round Top Elementary School) and Davis Bowers (Bookman Road Elementary School).
