8/15/2022

Magnet schools and programs in Richland School District Two are continuing to earn top national honors. The district now has 29 nationally certified magnet programs. Fifteen have earned the distinction of becoming Nationally Certified Demonstration Magnet schools by exceeding the criteria required to meet the Magnet Schools of America (MSA) National Standards of Excellence.

Medical, Engineering and Discovery (MED) through Arts at Bridge Creek Elementary School and Rice Creek Elementary School of Academics, Innovation and Leadership (SAiL) earned certification for the first time. The Center for Knowledge/Center for Knowledge North, Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary School’s Academy of Civic Engagement, STEMS at North Springs Elementary School, Kelly Mill Med Pro Middle School and the INC magnet at Kelly Mill, and Fine Arts and Media Enrichment (FAME), The Learning Collaborative (TLC) and TWO Academies at Dent Middle School were recertified.

Barbara Turner is the Richland Two Director of Magnet Programs. “We are elated to continue delivering extremely high quality magnet schools that promote choice, diversity and academic excellence. I appreciate the hard work and dedication each school’s academic team put into achieving these national badges of distinction,” said Turner.

Nationally certified magnet schools provide innovative educational options to families and students that promote choice, diversity and academic excellence. Magnet Schools of America will officially recognize these schools and programs at its annual national conference in April 2023.
