Summer meals program begins June 8

Beginning Monday, June 8, Richland Two will transition from providing free meals during the school closure to the district’s annual summer meals program. There will not be a meal distribution June 29th- July 2nd.

During the summer program, meals will be available for pick up at drive-thru locations at eight schools and 14 community bus route stops. Students will receive one breakfast and one lunch on a first come, first serve basis Monday through Wednesday. On Thursdays students will receive an additional breakfast and lunch, per day, for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Following the district's summer hours, the meal sites will be closed on Fridays.

Children do not have to attend one of the schools listed below or qualify for free/reduced-price meals to receive free meals.

Participants at the bus stop pick-ups will be required to follow social distancing guidelines. Everyone receiving a meal must maintain 6-feet of separation from each other while waiting in line. It is critical that everyone does his and her part to slow the spread of COVID-19. Failure to comply increases risks to the health of recipients and the health of others. Social distancing is imperative for the safe continuation of this service.

Meals will be given out from 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Monday–Thursday, June 8 through August 6 at the following schools:
Bethel-Hanberry Elementary School
Bridge Creek Elementary School
Dent Middle School
Joseph Keels Elementary School
Longleaf Middle School
North Springs Elementary School
Polo Road Elementary School
Rice Creek Elementary School

The following schools that were distribution sites during the school closure will not be distribution sites for the summer meals program: Killian Elementary, L.W. Conder Elementary and Pontiac Elementary.
