LCE-Lower's Julia Beck named March Rookie Teacher of the Block

Richland Two announced that Lake Carolina Elementary Lower music teacher Julia Beck is the March Rookie Teacher of the Block. The award is sponsored by H&R Block, a dedicated partner of the district.

In her nomination, Lake Carolina Elementary Lower principal Dr. Andrea Berry praised Beck’s intuitive ability to creative engaging learning experiences for her students. She describes how the first year teacher wrote a song for the entire school encouraging inclusion. The song has been featured in the South Carolina Special Olympics monthly newsletter.

“Her careful, deliberate and innovative lesson designs kept students engaged, challenged and in an environment where they could express themselves through music,” Berry wrote.

RTOTB winners receive a plaque to hang outside their door, a Kindle Fire for their personal use and a unique trophy designed by the 3D Printing class at the Richland Two Institute of Innovation (R2i2). Past winners are Jaron Roberson (Dent Middle), Emily McElveen (Muller Road Middle), Brett Frye (Round Top Elementary), Davis Bowers (Bookman Road Elementary) and Destinee Chrobak (Longleaf Middle).
