Update: 2016–2017 Budget

The board received an update on the budget process for the 2016–2017 school year.

Voting Item: Superintendent Authorization

The board voted to authorize the superintendent to apply for available state, federal, foundation and other special funded programs funding for the 2016 - 2017 fiscal year.

Historically, the board - prior to the beginning of each fiscal year - has granted authority to the superintendent to apply for available state, federal, foundation and other special funded programs funding for the next fiscal year. This action has been required for Impact Aid applications and some grant applications that call for evidence that the superintendent is authorized to seek outside funding.

Report: IT Services - Part I: Infrastructure and Support

The board received an overview of the Information Technology Services report. This report is the first in a series of reports for presenting an overview of the three functional areas of the district's Information Technology department. Each of the areas will be presented – one per month during June, July and August – beginning with Infrastructure and Support and a discussion of infrastructure sustainability and reinvestment.

Report: Concussions and the RSD2 Return to Learn Procedures

The board received information on the new “Return to Learn” procedure developed in collaborations with Spring Valley Athletic Trainer Paul Dobyns and District Lead Nurse Dawn MacAdams to address concerns pertaining to students suffering from concussions returning to the classroom. This procedure was developed for non-athletes as an adjunct to the existing “Return to Play” procedure created for student athletes. Students who sustain a concussion may need specific academic accommodations while recovering from a concussion.
