Faculty Focus: Uncovering Student Potential
Teachers Dr. Mary Fanning, Leslie Bloss and Anna Osborne shared information about the collaboration between ALERT teachers, first-grade teachers and second-grade teachers at Keels Elementary School. The purpose of the collaboration is to uncover student potential using a "growth mindset". This partnership is based on the PEP Project that was initiated during the 2014–2015 school year through R2 Innovates and was recently shared at the South Carolina Consortium for Gifted Education Conference.

The board voted to approve the calendar for the 2016–2017 school year as it was submitted.

Voting Item: Adoption of Facility Study
The board voted to adopt the 2015 Long Range Facilities Study Update.

Voting Item: Bond Authorization for Equipment Bonds and 8 percent
The board voted to approve two resolutions, involving the execution and delivery of an acquisition, use and security agreement relating to the solar project with form agreement and the issuance and sale of not exceeding $10,000,000 General Obligation Bonds pursuant to the school district’s constitutional eight percent debt limit. The board amended the acquisition resolution to not exceed $2.1 million.

District Priority Update: Discipline Task Force
Chief Administrative Officer Roosevelt Garrick and Executive Director of Administrative Services Cleveland Smith presented an update to the board regarding the Discipline Task Force. The purpose of the Discipline Task Force is to engage in open dialogue regarding the discipline procedures and consequences of the students of Richland Two. The task force members represent a variety of stakeholders, including parents, community members, members of the faith-based community and district personnel.

Report: State Assessment Results and Update ESEA Accountability
Director of Assessment and Accountability Jeff Potts presented the results of the state assessment scores from the 2014–2015 school year to the board. Chief Instructional Officer Nancy Gregory discussed the district’s response to these results.
