RICHLAND TWO SC PASS/SC READY SUMMARY

9/6/2022

On Tuesday, September 6, 2022, the South Carolina Department of Education released the results of the spring 2022 administrations of the SC PASS and SC READY assessments. SC PASS is the state science test, which is only administered in grades 4 and 6. SC READY is given to students in grades 3-8 in ELA and math. The tables below provide a summary of the performance of Richland Two students compared to South Carolina for the last two years for SC PASS and SC READY.

In ELA and science, the district is at or above the state performance levels. In math, the district is above the state in all but one grade level. In addition, for both science and ELA, Richland Two has rebounded to pre-pandemic scores.  For math, Richland Two improved from last year and is close to pre-pandemic scores. This accomplishment is even more significant given that nationally schools are seeing declines due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic. Additionally, Richland Two, like other districts across the state, experienced high absences of both students and staff in 2021-2022 due to COVID quarantines and isolations making these achievements even more impactful.

Richland Two Superintendent Dr. Baron R. Davis said, “Prior to the pandemic we were moving in the right direction in terms of student achievement. The pandemic interrupted that progress but it did not completely derail the strategies and structures we have in place. During the 2021–2022 school year, we recommitted to strategies that inform instruction for improved achievement. These strategies include the district’s Instructional Model and the benchmark assessment system. We celebrate and thank our Richland Two teachers and school instructional leaders for their commitment to using data to enhance teaching and learning for our students. We also recognize and appreciate all employees who support our teachers and students. The data show the proof and results of the hard work of our employees, students and parents.”
