GOOD HUMAN BEAN AWARD WINNER

2/1/2022

Ridge View High School Social Studies teacher Mallory Mullen is the district's first recipient of the Good Human Bean award. The Human Bean coffee shop on Hard Scrabble Road in Columbia is recognizing Richland Two employees for doing what they do every day: being a good human being.  In addition to her teaching duties, Mullen is also the coordinator of the National Honors Society at Ridge View and collaborates with her colleagues and student team to successfully host Dance Marathon.

Elliott Stewart, the assistant band director at Kelly Mill Med Pro Middle School, nominated Mullen for the award. “I have the pleasure of working with Mallory on staff in the marching band at Ridge View. She exemplifies what it means to be a teacher that cares for and supports her students. She sets high expectations for excellence in whatever capacity of teaching she is doing. It is evident that she is passionate about the content she teaches,” said Stewart.

The Good Human Bean award will be presented quarterly with an annual Great Human Bean award given at the end of the year. Winners receive Human Bean "swag bags." Nominations can be made by anyone working in Richland Two for any Richland Two employee who is observed exhibiting outstanding characteristics in the Four Core Values of Learning, Character, Community, and Joy.
