First ever Learning Support Staffer of the Year named

Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary School Counselor Dr. Sandra Grant has been named the 2019 Richland Two Learning Support Staffer of the Year. This is the award’s inaugural year.

School staff, members of the Learning Support Services Department and district Superintendent Dr. Baron Davis surprised Dr. Grant with the award during a recent end-of-the-year celebration.

“Through my career in education, I've had the opportunity to interact with K-12 students and thoroughly enjoy observing the stages of development from preschool to 12th grade. I love my profession so much, that if I could, I would give it an additional 15 years with a radiant smile on my face and a truly grateful heart!” she said.
Dr. Grant has nearly 24 years of educational experience. Three years ago, she transitioned to elementary school counseling after more than 20 years in the classroom teaching middle and high school. Even as a counselor she’s still teaching. Today, she teaches classroom character education and safety lessons, facilitates small group of students in need of specialized attention and assists teachers and students in crisis. Dr. Grant joined the Richland Two family in 2006 as a teacher of law education and psychology teacher at Ridge View High School. She has also served at Joseph Keels Elementary School.

Dr. Grant is married with two children. She also helped raise her younger sister. She earned her bachelor’s degree and education specialist degrees from the University of South Carolina. In 2013, she received her doctoral of education in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
