Education Foundation will buy books and fund scholarships with newly received grant, donation
1/14/2019
The Richland School District Two Education Foundation is the recipient of $28,000 in the form of a donation and grant.
Service Solutions Donation
At the January 7, 2019, school board meeting, Val Emery, Regional Vice President for Service Solutions, the district's contractor for custodial services, presented a check for $25,000 to the Richland 2 Education Foundation. The money will be used to fund two separate district programs.
The district’s reading initiative, R2 Ready to Read, will receive $5,000 to purchase approximately 5,000 books that will be distributed to our pre-k through second grade students. The remaining $20,000 will be distributed to 10 students in the amount of $2,000 scholarships, a significant contribution to defer ever-rising college costs.
Service Solutions employees in the district, who are parents of high school seniors planning to attend college, will receive first preference for the scholarships.
Grow Financial Grant
Grow Financial Federal Credit Union awarded the foundation a $3,000 grant, which will be used to purchase books for R2 Ready to Read. Grow Financial has been an avid supporter of Richland Two for many years. The company continue to support the district’s efforts with their strong commitment to education.
R2 Ready to Read
is a book collection campaign that has been in place in the district for four years. The goal of the program is to increase the number of books in the homes of our youngest students and encourage summer reading.
