EMPLOYEES CHOSEN FOR UOFSC DIVERSITY COUNCIL
EMPLOYEES CHOSEN FOR UOFSC DIVERSITY COUNCIL
2/10/2021
Two Richland Two employees will soon be sharing their advice and knowledge about diversity and inclusion matters with the University of South Carolina (UofSC). Richland Two Director of College and Career Initiatives, Mary Paige Boyce and GEAR UP Project Director, Zipporah Little have been selected to serve on the UofSC's Office of Undergraduate Admissions Diversity Advisory Council.
The advisory council is a collaborative networking opportunity that provides a platform for the university’s recruitment staff, high school counselors and community-based organizations to share their knowledge on matters that concern access, diversity and inclusion.
“I am so honored to have this opportunity to work with UofSC as they address the lack of access that has systemically limited so many students who have worked hard to earn a place at the University of South Carolina. It feels great to know that as we in Richland Two work to tackle issues related to lack of equity and opportunity that the university system is also working to be more prepared to receive our talented students,” said Boyce.
“Working with the University of South Carolina to address these concerns is something that I value tremendously. It is my hope that our work will correct the disparities that prevent prospective students from realizing their dreams of attending this flagship university,” said Little.
Promoting and creating a welcoming and inclusive campus for future students, and providing insight on events and initiatives that seek to recruit a pipeline of underrepresented students are some goals of the advisory council.
