E-Learning/Remote Work Day Friday
E-Learning/Remote Work Day Friday
1/10/2022
Key Points:
Richland Two is switching to an e-learning/remote work day on Friday, January 21, 2022.
The switch is based on the potential for widespread and extended power outages and hazardous travel conditions due to freezing rain.
Teachers will post assignments in Google Classroom (or provide paper packets).
All assignments must be completed and turned in by Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in order for the student to be marked present for Friday, January 21, 2022.
Dear Richland Two Parents,
Richland School District Two will switch to an e-learning/remote work day on January 21, 2022 due to the potential for hazardous winter weather conditions.
This means all schools and facilities will be closed and all after-school activities are canceled.
The S.C. Department of Education approved Richland Two as an e-learning district in 2019-2020, which means this day will not have to be made up. A full day of virtual e-learning would most likely be interrupted substantially due to the anticipated power outages. Therefore, asynchronous instruction will be provided to students.
Teachers will post assignments in Google Classroom (or provide paper packets). Specific instructions, including teacher virtual office hours, will be communicated to students and parents from their students’ teachers and schools. All assignments must be completed and turned in by Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in order for the student to be marked present for Friday, January 21, 2022.
Richland Two administrators have been monitoring the weather forecast for several days. We have also received updates from city and county emergency officials. The decision to switch to an e-learning/remote work day is based on the potential for widespread and extended power outages and hazardous travel conditions due to freezing rain.
Thank you for adjusting your family’s schedule to this modification of the school day on Friday.
Sincerely,
Libby Roof
Senior Chief Officer for Communications
