DMS teacher named Jan. Rookie Teacher of the Block
DMS teacher named Jan. Rookie Teacher of the Block
2/1/2019
Dent Middle School social studies teacher Jaron Roberson is the January Rookie Teacher of the Block. The award is sponsored by H&R Block, a dedicated partner of the district.
In her nomination, Dent Middle Principal Tamala Ashford wrote about Mr. Roberson’s contagious sense of humor and energy.
“When he is collaborating with other teachers, he brings joy to the room by sharing personal stories of struggles and successes,” Ms. Ashford wrote.
Mr. Roberson stands out as a skilled teacher who is able to connect with students and has quickly become an integral member of the Diamond family. He works in the after school program, hosted a school wide professional development session on Culturally Relevant Teaching and attends extra-curricular activities to cheer on his students.
RTOTB winners receive a plaque to hang outside their door, a Kindle Fire for their personal use and a unique trophy designed by the 3D Printing class at the Richland Two Institute of Innovation (R2i2). Mr. Roberson is the fourth teacher to be recognized through the initiative. Past winners are Emily McElveen (Muller Road), Brett Frye (Round Top Elementary School) and Davis Bowers (Bookman Road Elementary School).
