August 8th School Board Meeting Highlights

At 6 p.m. after calling the meeting to order, the Board convened in executive session to discuss student appeals, student readmission requests, personnel recommendations, releases and in-district transfers, recommendation for termination and a contractual matter regarding the sale of property. At 7 p.m., the Board reconvened in public session.

Special Recognitions
Three Richland Two graduates and members of Boy Scout Troop 224 of Blythewood were honored for earning the rank of Eagle Scout. They are Leighton Gay, Jakob Neiswonger and Jacob Braddock.

School Board Member James Manning received the gavel plaque in appreciation for his service as chairman of the Richland Two Board of Trustees from June 2015-June 2017.

Voting Item: Consent Agenda
The Board voted to approve the Consent Agenda that included the minutes from the previous meeting; personnel recommendations, releases and in-district transfers; a technology report; student re-admittance requests for the 2017-2018 school year; and student admittance request into the district’s adult education program.

Voting Item: Sale of Property
The Board voted to authorize the administration to grant, sell and release property consisting of 0.034 total acres on the campus of Dent Middle School, being shown as Richland County TMS #R16907-02-01 to East Richland County Public Service District. The purpose of this transfer is for a sewer pump station.

The board approved suggested revisions to these policies and administrative rules; IKE (Promotion and Retention), IKE-R (Promotion and Retention), BCB (Board Member Conflict of Interest), BDD (Board-Superintendent Relationship), BDF (Advisory Committees), BDF-R (SICs), BDG (Board Attorney/Legal Services), BDG-R (Board Attorney/Legal Services), and BDH (Board Consultants), BE (Board Meetings), BEC (Executive Sessions/Open Meetings), BEDA (Board Meeting Notification), BEDB (Board Agenda), BEDC (Quorum), BEDD (Rules of Order), BEDF (Voting Method at Board Meetings),and BEDG (Minutes of Board Meetings).
