April 26, 2016 Richland Two School Board Meeting Highlights

Student Focus: North Springs Elementary

North Springs Elementary School’s Dare to Dream Dance Team performed for the board. The team of third- and fourth-grade students has performed at several school and community events during the school year.

 

Voting Item: Consent Agenda

As part of the consent agenda, the board received a facilities update on R2i2 and a technology report with updates on

Technology Integration and Professional Development, Technology for Communications, Student Information Systems, Infrastructure and Support, and Business Systems.

 

 

Proposal: General Fund Budget for 2016–2017

Chief Financial Officer Harry Miley presented the proposed 2016-2017 General Fund Budget to the Board for first reading. District administrators proposed a budget totaling $260,978,821, which is an increase of $14,692,148 or 5.97 percent compared to the 2015-2016 General Fund Budget. The proposed budget requires an increase of 7.4 mills in operating millage, which is an increase of 2.4 percent in operating millage compared to the 2015-2016 General Fund Budget.  

 

Report: R2i2 Update

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Baron Davis and Director of R2i2 Kevin Alberse presented an update to the board, including job vacancies/posting, early college at R2i2 and evening programming.

 

 

Report: Grant Approval Process

Director of Grants Initiatives Dr. Arlene Bakutes presented information to the board detailing the process for schools and the district to submit grant proposals.

 

 

 

Action: Move First May Board Meeting

The Board voted to move the May 10 board meeting to May 9.
