Mr. Rashad Adams, Principal
Rashad Adams began his education career in Richland Two in 2002 at Bookman Road Elementary School. Between 2005 and 2007, he taught fourth-grade at schools in Virginia and then Maine. In 2007, he returned to Richland Two and Bookman Road Elementary where he taught fifth-grade for seven years, earned National Board Certification and was chosen the 2008–2009 Bookman Road Elementary Teacher of the Year. During his time as an assistant principal at Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary (2014 - 2018), he completed the Assistant Principal Program for Leadership Excellence and Developing Aspiring Principals Program through the South Carolina Department of Education. Adams holds three degrees from USC: Bachelor of Arts in psychology, Master of Arts in teaching and a Master of Educational Leadership.
During his time at North Springs, Adams has completed the state’s Principal Induction Program. He is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. Adams is honored to serve the Cricket Community!

Mrs. Dana Henderson, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Henderson is excited to return to North Springs Elementary as an Assistant Principal. She began her educational career as a Special Education Teacher of grades 6th-8th in Richland School District One and Lexington-Richland School District Five. In 2007, she joined Richland School District Two as a special education teacher in grades 6th-8th at Kelly Mill Middle School, grades K-5 at Bridge Creek Elementary School and North Springs Elementary School, and recently served as a District Behavior Intervention Specialist. Mrs. Henderson has over 14 years of experience in public education and is beginning her 13th year in Richland School District Two. She obtained her B.A. in Music and M.A.T. in Special Education with an emphasis on emotional behavioral disorders from the University of South Carolina as well as her Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. Mrs. Henderson is an active member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA).
Mrs. Henderson is married with a blended family. She enjoys quality time with family, outdoor activities such as walking and biking, listening to music, and home improvement projects. Mrs. Henderson is a firm believer in educating the whole child. As such she looks forward to serving and building connections with the North Springs Elementary Crickets community.
Mrs. Dawn Smith, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Smith is excited to return to North Springs as an Assistant Principal. Her career began at NSE as a substitute teacher and kindergarten teaching assistant. She then went on to teach fourth grade at Bookman Road Elementary before starting a magnet program, the Academy for Civic Engagement (ACE) at Lonnie B. Nelson where she most recently served as Lead Teacher for the past ten years. Mrs. Smith graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology and Education), an M.A.T. in Early Childhood, and a Masters in Educational Administration. Mrs. Smith earned National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood/Generalist and recertified in 2015. In 2005, she was named Teacher of the Year and Richland Two’s District Teacher of the Year. In 2006-2007, she was named one of the top five finalists for State Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Smith lives in Blythewood with her husband, Ken. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Ashley and Caitlin, who are products of Richland Two and graduates of Clemson University. Ashley is a pediatric nurse and Caitlin is a teacher and real estate agent. Mrs. Smith serves on the SC Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development Board and is an active member in her church and the community. She loves to read, garden, swim, and spend time with family, and two dogs, Tanner and Sadie.
