Welcome to Spring Valley

  •  May, 2008 AP Test results - 251 Spring Valley students (the highest number ever) had an 86% pass rate.  550 exams were taken with an average score per test of 3.77 (the highest in the last 3 years).
  • HSAP test results - 86.4% pass rate for both tests on their first attempt,  92.9% students passed ELA on the first attempt for all grades, and 90.1% students passed math on the first attempt for all grades.
  • Harry Richman scored a perfect 36 on the ACT, one of 172 in the nation to make a perfect score.  Earlier this school year Harry scored a perfect 2400 on the SAT.
  • AFJROTC Drill Team wins the 2008 U.S. VFW National Drill Championship.  The team won Overall Championship, All-Girls Junior National Championship and the Special Judges Award in addition to 17 Gold Medals, 17 Silver Medals and 8 Bronze Medals.
  • Boys Soccer Team receives NUMBER ONE ranking by NSCCA/Adidas National Rankings.
  • HOSA Creative Problem Solving Team placed 1st at SC State Leadership Conference.  At the HOSA National Leadership Conference in Dallas the team went on to place 5th in the nation.
  • AFJROTC Cadets Eron Fayson and Marcus Lara placed first nationally in the Masters Level Dual Exhibition (Fancy) Armed Event.  Additionally, Fayson won 2nd place int he Solo Exhibition (Fancy) Individual Armed Event and Lara won 5th Place in the same event, during the National High School Drill Team Championship.
  • Spring Valley was recognized by the Siemens Foundation and the College Board  as one of the top 50 high schools in the United States based on "Spring Valley's commitment to providing its students opportunities to explore the AP Program and its staff's dedication to student success."  Spring Valley was named the Siemens AP School of the Year for South Carolina.
  • Graham Van Schaik named an Intel Science Talent Search Finalist. 
  • Trevor Auman scored a perfect 36 on the ACT.
  • Allie Voss and Mack Montgomery were named 2007 USA Swimming Scholastic All Americans.
  • Aurel Lazar, Emily Niehaus, Gina Noh, Graham Van Schaik and Will Shrader have been selected as 2008 Robert C. Byrd Scholars.
  • SV has 10 students who are National Merit Finalists.  Katherine Fanning, Tianjia Ge, Daniel Gibbs, Aurel Lazar, John Maney, Thomas Maney, Gina Noh, William Shrader, Graham Van Schaik, and Michelle Zhang.  Eric Potts was named a National Merit Semifinalist.  In addition, James Cunningham was named a National Achievement Semifinalist.
  • 2007 senior class had an average SAT score of 1033 beating the national average of 1017 by 16 points.  Discovery Program seniors have an average SAT score of 1314 (297 points above the national average).  Explorations Program seniors have an average SAT score of 1115 (98 points above the national average).
  • Recently recognized by Newsweek Magazine  for being among the top 4% of high schools nationally 
  • AP test scores - Spring Valley students have 88% pass rate for tests given in May, 2007, compared to the national pass rate of 59.6% 
  • Palmetto Gold Award recipient for five years 
  • Red Carpet Award recipient  
  • 37 National Board Certified Teachers 
  • 22 Athletic State Championships/16 All-American Athletes/Six played or playing in the NFL/2-Time Olympic Gold Medalist in Track 
  • 9 Presidential Scholars 
  • 48 National Merit Finalists/16 National Merit Achievement Finalists in the last decade 
  • $32,751,925 total scholarships awarded to graduates of the class of 2008.  39 Palmetto Fellows, 5 Byrd Scholars, 144 Life Scholarships and 69 Hope Scholarships
