BMS Education Foundation

The BMS Education Foundation is composed of parents, faculty and community members. The purpose of the Ed Foundation is to raise funds and to promote educational programs for BMS via donations from businesses and individuals.  The Foundation also serves as an advisory board to review program ideas and to make grants to the school as fiscal agents for donors.

The Reading Incentive Program, under the guidance of media specialist, Betty Neal, is the Foundation’s main project. The program provides guest authors, books, reading incentives and rewards each year for students. Some previous authors include Tate Nation, Joyce Hansen, Harry Mazer, Heidi Yolen Stemple, Ben Mikaelsen and Janet Leigh Carey.

As a service component of the program, students hold an annual book drive to collect books for local shelters. The Ed Foundation’s Reading Incentive Program has been recognized by the State Department of Education as one of the state’s exemplary volunteer programs.

The Foundation’s main fundraiser is an annual golf tournament held in the community. If you are interested in more information about the BMS Ed Foundation or in helping with any of the Foundation’s activities, please contact Mrs. Lorena Swetnam at 691-6850, ext. 85436 or Mrs. Julie Barnes, President, at 735-8266.
