How do I donate to classroom projects?
With a donation as little as $5 or $10, parents and community members can make a big difference in a classroom project.
Potential donors need only to visit www.palmettohorizon.org, click on Make Your Gift (in lower left-hand corner), click on Donor'sChoose.org link (in blue), under Location select District and scroll down to Richland Co. School District Two (on the right side of page). Donors can then select the specific project they wish to support.
Donors have already made an impact. For example, as result of donations Dent Middle School teacher Cynthia Johnson was able to buy small dry-erase boards for students to use at their desks. In a separate project, Ms. Johnson was able to purchase a set of books for the classroom.
The district also has grant opportunities available.
The program is the collaboration of the Palmetto Horizon Foundation and the national organization, DonorsChoose.org and aims to simplify the process of giving directly to schools. On Aug. 24, Palmetto Horizon Foundation Executive Director Trip DuBard visited Dent Middle, along with S.C. Superintendent of Education Dr. Jim Rex, to see firsthand the direct benefits of the foundation.
